The purpose of the Economic Development Corporation (EDC) is to strengthen and revitalize the City's economy. The EDC provides a means and method for locating, purchasing, constructing, reconstructing, modernizing, improving, maintaining, repairing, furnishing or equipping industrial and commercial sites to encourage the location and expansion of industrial and commercial enterprises in the City.
Eight Corporation members are appointed for 6-year terms by the Mayor with the approval of the City Council. One representative of City Council serves as an ex-officio member on a year-to-year basis.
