Tax Increment Finance Authority

The purpose of the Tax Increment Finance Authority (TIFA) is to encourage economic development and activity, and neighborhood revitalization. The TIFA Board develops a long-range plan designed to halt the decline of property values and to promote the growth of the development area. These plans can include the construction, renovation, repair or preservation of a public facility or individual property.

Eight authority members are appointed for 6-year terms by the Mayor with the approval of the City Council. One representative of City Council serves as an ex-officio member on a year-to-year basis.
