NEW POLICE CHIEF
Chief Jim Wolf joined the Williamston Police Department on February 1, 2021 as the new Chief. Chief Wolf retired from Michigan State Police and has over 31 years of law enforcement service. Chief Wolf graduated from Williamston Community Schools, so he knows the community well. He is looking forward to serving the City of Williamston.

Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, we will not be accepting any walk-in complaints or questions. If you need to speak with an officer, please contact us at 517-655-4222. A determination will then be made on how to best handle your situation. If you get voicemail, please leave a message and we will contact you as soon as possible. If you have an emergency, please call 9-1-1.
We will no longer be conducting walk-in PBT's until further notice.
We will be determining this on a day-to-day basis and will be watching the State for guidelines and mandatory procedures.

•PARKING ON CITY STREETS:
â–ºThere is NO PARKING on any City street from October 1 – March 31 between 2am-5am. This ordinance is in effect even if there is no snow on the ground. Per City Ordinance - Sec. 66-145.
â–ºProhibited Parking – Please see the following about cars parked on sidewalks, crosswalks, and near intersections. The Williamston Police Department will take enforcement action on these violations. Please remember the following, per City Ordinance:
257.676b Interference with normal flow of vehicular or pedestrian traffic prohibited; exception; violation as civil infraction.
Sec. 676b
(1) A person, without authority, shall not block, obstruct, impede, or otherwise interfere with the normal flow of vehicular or pedestrian traffic upon a public street or highway in this state, by means of a barricade, object, or device, or with his or her person. This section shall not apply to persons maintain, rearranging, or constructing public utility facilities in or adjacent to a street or highway.
(2) A person who violates this section is responsible for a civil infraction.
257.674 Prohibited parking; exceptions; bus loading zone; violation as civil infraction.
Sec. 674.
(1) A vehicle shall not be parked, except if necessary to avoid conflict with other traffic or in compliance with the law or the directions of a police officer or traffic-control device, in any of the following places:
a. On a sidewalk.
b. In front of a public or private driveway.
c. Within an intersection.
d. Within 15 feet of a fire hydrant.
e. On a crosswalk.
f. Within 20 feet of a crosswalk, or if there is not a crosswalk, then within 15 feet of the intersection of property lines at an intersection of highways.
g. Within 30 feet of the approach to a flashing beacon, stop sign, or traffic-control signal located at the side of a highway.
